Bugs Found In Kitchen Cabinets

Referred to as stored product pests or pantry pests merchant grain beetles and indian meal moths tend to gravitate towards kitchen cabinets and pantries due to their particular palates.
Be on the lookout for each of these and take immediate action if you see them crawling or flying around your home. I have seen these same kind of bugs on piles of wood in the backyard. Ants cockroaches flies rodents and pantry pests are the five most common kitchen bugs insects and rodents to be on the lookout for. I ve looked for what they could be and i couldn t find an answer.
Typical pantry pests include several varieties of grain beetles flour weevils and indian meal moths. As their name implies merchant grain beetles are commonly found feeding on grains such as cereals and products containing corn or corn meal. There are several varieties of pantry bugs or pantry pests as they are commonly known that like to infest foods normally stored in pantries and kitchen cupboards such as flour grains spices and sugar or candy. They were little pencil lead sized bugs that are striped brownish grey color and they shed their shell type body thing.
I stopped unpacking the second i saw bugs. Small worms on kitchen counters and in the corners of cabinets are the larval form of indian meal moths and houseflies which are common kitchen pests. So there is no food source of mine in the kitchen area. There are two main types of grain beetles.

Found our source over summer was keeping a bag of birdseed in cabinet under bookshelves by deck door off of kitchen. From their name you might imagine that these tiny beetles like to live in containers of flour cereal or rice and you d be right. Merchant grain beetles which fly and sawtoothed grain beetles which don t. Well tore apart bookshelves this weekend and found them all over.
The kitchen is where food pet food and crumbs are often located and insects gravitate to these areas. Finding little bugs and worms in your cabinets can be unexpected and unpleasant especially when in or around food.
