You can try a light sanding and then using one of the polyurethane and stain in one products which will darken the cabinets. Clean the cabinets with a strong degreasing cleaner and rinse off the residue with a damp sponge. Dark brown cabinets are more current than blonde. I had the idea that i could use a tinted topcoat like minwax s polyshades to darken the wood same technique i used on my old kitchen table.
